Structure

Eligibility

The following students are eligible to join the training sessions:
1. Gold, Silver and Bronze Medal winners in HKOI 2024/25
2. Gold, Silver and Bronze Medal winners in HKGOI 2024/25
3. Gold Medal winners in SDIC 2024.

They will become official team members if they attend at least 1 regular training session.
Other students may be allowed to sit-in as non-trainees, subject to capacity and other contraints.

Regular Training (February to April)

The regular training are held on Saturdays, with 2 sessions on each day. The AM session is divided to 2 difficult levels: Level A and Level B. The PM session contain contents that are suitable for all members. Trainings are conducted in Cantonese with English materials.

Trainees may choose to attend the Level A sessions if they meet any one of the criteria below. Otherwise, they are only allowed to attend the Level B sessions.
1. Received a HKOI Training Team 2024 Certificate of Attendance.
2. Participated in HKOI Training Camp 2024.
3. Received Gold Medal award in HKOI 2024/25.
4. Solved 200 or more tasks on HKOI Online Judge.

Team Formation Test / EGOI Team Formation Test / Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad

Results of the Team Formation Test, EGOI Team Formation Test and APIO will be used as a reference to select members to participate in external competitions and other learning opportunities. In 2024, the team participated in the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI), China National Olympiad in Informatics (NOI), ACM-HK Programming Contest and ICPC Hong Kong Regional Contest.

All official training team members can register for the Team Formation Test, while only HKGOI medal winners can register for the EGOI Team Formation Test. Please note that only Permanent HKID holders may participate in inter-territory external competitions such as IOI, EGOI, NOI and APIO.

HKOI Training Camp (June to July)

The HKOI Training Camp is by invitation only and is compulsory for members selected to participate in external competitions.

Registration

All training sessions are to be held on-site at City University of Hong Kong.

All eligible students are automatically registered — they will receive CityU guest QR codes for all training days.

Currently, we also accept the following students (Non-trainees) to sit-in the training sessions. They are not allowed to attend the Level A sessions.

– HKGOI 2024/25 Honourable Mention awardees
– SDIC 2024 Silver Medallists

The above non-trainees who wish to attend the training sessions must pre-register to receive CityU guest QR codes. Walk-in is not allowed, even if the student has access to CityU by other means.

Registration deadlines for Non-trainees

Week 6-8: 2025-02-05
Week 9-12: 2025-02-24
Week 13-15: 2025-03-24

Entry

Eligible students can enter the training venue directly. Non-trainees should queue outside the training venue until the scheduled session start time. If there is remaining capacity when the session starts, these non-trainees will be allowed to enter the room. Otherwise, they will need to leave. The capacity for each session is 54. Late-comers may not be allowed to enter the venue if the capacity has been reached.

Attendance

Attendance will be taken. Official training Team members who attend at least 60% of the sessions (Team Formation Test, EGOI Team Formation Test and APIO each counts as 2 sessions) will receive a certificate. The EGOI Team Formation Test is excluded from the denominator.

Code of Conduct

Students must:
– Demonstrate good conduct
– Obey trainers’ instructions
– (for selected external competition participants) Attend the competition and all compulsory trainings

Students must not:
– Play games during trainings
– Cheat or attempt to cheat in contests
– Harass trainers and/or other members
– Violate the HKOI Online Judge Terms of Use

Students who do not comply with the rules may be banned from the Team and/or all HKOI-related activities.
