HKOI 2024/25 Heat Event

Compared to last year’s competition, the format of the Heat Event has changed significantly.
Please refer to the Competition Rules and Sample Paper.
Date: 9th November 2024 (Saturday)
Reporting Time: Senior Group: 9:15 – 9:30 a.m.
Junior Group: 1:45 – 2:00 p.m.
Reporting Venue: To be announced
Event Time: Senior Group: 10:00 a.m. – 11:50 a.m.
Junior Group: 2:30 p.m. – 4:20 p.m.
Competition Venue: The Chinese University of Hong Kong
Required Documents: Hong Kong Identity Card (for checking eligibility and entering CUHK campus)
Student ID Card
Required Supplies: 2B pencils and erasers. Calculators are NOT allowed.

Reporting Procedure

  1. Contestants should simply wait patiently once they arrive at the reporting venue. DO NOT proceed to the competition venue directly.
  2. At about 9:15 a.m. (Senior Group) / 1:45 p.m. (Junior Group), an announcement will be made to ask students to enter the competition venue. If necessary, students should use the washroom before entering the venue.
  3. Students should proceed to their assigned seat. Teachers and parents are not allowed to enter the venue.
  4. Door closes at 9:30 a.m. (Senior Group) / 2:00 p.m. (Junior Group) sharp. Students who do not enter the assigned competition venue by that time will be disqualified.

Competition Procedure

  1. Paper 1 question paper, and answer sheets for both papers are distributed
  2. Paper 1 competition time (50 minutes)
  3. Paper 1 answer sheet is collected
  4. Paper 2 question paper is distributed
  5. Paper 2 competition time (40 minutes)
  6. Paper 2 answer sheet is collected

Note: Contestants are allowed to use the washroom only during competition time (2) and (5).

Multiple choice questions

– Fully mark the box that corresponds to the desired answer

Short questions

– If the blank is divided into small boxes, you can write only one character in each box. The answer must not exceed the designated number of boxes.
– Write legibly. Unrecognizable answers will be regarded as incorrect.
