Only the performances in the Final Event count towards awards.
A positive score in the Final Event is required to be eligible for the awards below.
Medals
Medals for each group are awarded separately.
- The minimum score for a Gold medal is the highest score such that at least 1/12 of all finalists in the group receive a gold medal.
- The minimum score for a Silver medal is the highest score such that at least 1/4 of all finalists in the group receive a gold or silver medal.
- The minimum score for a Bronze medal is the highest score such that at least 1/2 of all finalists in the group receive a medal.
Honourable Mentions
In each group, for those contestants do not receive medals, the score necessary to achieve an Honourable Mention is the highest score such that at least 2/3 of all finalists in the group receive either a medal or an Honourable Mention.
Individual Awards
The highest-scoring Junior Group finalist studying at Secondary 3 / Grade 9 / Year 10 or below will be given the Best Young Contestant Award.
In each group, the highest-scoring finalist who applied to participate for the first time will be given the Best First-Time Contestant Award.
Eligible contestants who tie for the same highest score will all be awarded.
Grand School Prize
Each Gold, Silver and Bronze medallist will be awarded 5, 2 and 1 point(s) respectively. The sum of points for all medallists in a school will constitute the school score. The four schools with the highest school scores will be awarded Grand School Prizes.
Invitation to the HKOI Training Team
Gold, Silver and Bronze medallists will then be invited to join the HKOI Training Team for intensive training. A Team Formation Test will be held during April/May to select delegates from team members for external competitions. The detailed criteria of selection would be available one month before the Team Formation Test.
