Only the performances in the Final Event count towards awards.

Medals

Medals for each group are awarded separately.

  • The minimum score for a Gold medal is the highest score such that at least one twelfth of all finalists in the group receive a gold medal.

  • The minimum score for a Bronze medal is the lowest score such that at most one half of all finalists in the group receive a medal.

Individual Awards

The highest-scoring Junior Group finalist studying at Secondary 3 / Grade 9 / Year 10 or below will be given the Best Young Contestant Award. (Updated 2nd November, 2016)

In each group, the highest-scoring finalist who applied to participate for the first time will be given the Best First-Time Contestant Award.

Eligible contestants who tie for the same highest score will all be awarded.

Grand School Prize

Each Gold, Silver and Bronze medallist will be awarded 5, 2 and 1 point(s) respectively. The sum of points for all medallists in a school, excluding those nominated by the HKACE, will constitute the school score. The three schools with the highest school scores will be awarded Grand School Prizes.

Invitation to the HKOI Training Team

Medallists will then be invited to join the HKOI Training Team for intensive training. For those who hold the Hong Kong Permanent Identity Card, they will also be invited to the Team Formation Test that will be held during April/May to select delegates for IOI and NOI. The detailed criteria of selection would be available one month before the Team Formation Test.
